Each month Unbroken Athletic recognizes one athlete in the group that stands out as demonstrating grit, effort, positive attitude and embodies the spirit of Unbroken Athletic. Congratulations to Cody Windland for being nominated this month by his coaches here at Unbroken. Check out his story below to see why. Thank you for inspiring us Cody! Keep up the great work can't wait to see you crush your goals and become a firefighter.
What’s your story?
I came to Unbroken with no athleticism or history of Sports at all. I always was out of shape and the weakest of my friends and family. One day I decided I wanted to go to EMT School and Fire Academy. and pursue becoming a Firefighter. In order to qualify for the spring Fire Academy exam, you need to pass an Physical agility test. I quickly realized I needed to be a lot more in-shape than ever before in order to pass that test. So I Came to Unbroken, and thanks to what little time I've spent training so far, I went to the Fire prep course in a lot better shape than when I Started. Now I sincerely hope I'll be ready for the Test on The 25 of October.
How long have you been training with us?
About 4 Months
Why did you start?
To Pursue becoming in better shape to Survive and (Hopefully) Thrive in the Fire Academy.
What was the biggest thing that scared you about this type of training? How did you overcome that?
The Intensity and high heart rate inducing work of the style, I've always been the kind to get out of breath really fast. That part scared me the most.
What has been your proudest achievement so far?
Seeing the slow but drastic changes to my Abilities in terms of strength and Endurance.
What result did you gain from training here that you did not expect?
A lot more patience with myself. I've always been fairly weak, and at first I got frustrated with my Weakness, but now I've seen that Over time it will get better with practice and Improving technique, and I'm more willing to wait as opposed to wanting instant results.
What's your favorite movement?
What's your least favorite movement?
What are you working towards now?
Improving my current Technique and getting far superior endurance. And Obviously Passing that Agility test I'm sure your sick of hearing about.
Why do you keep coming back?
The Results. Sure it comes slow, but when I do see results it makes me so much more confident with myself.
