Each year at the CrossFit Games, they honor someone with the Spirit of the Games award. This honor goes to the ‘athlete who embodies the spirit of the sport.’ Each week during Saturday Morning Showdown, Unbroken Athletic will recognize a member it feels represented the Spirit of the Games. This week’s honor goes to …. Brian Veeck & The Boyd Family.

Lets start with Brian, He showed up with his two kids to the Saturday Showdown in full super hero costumes. Then he chose to do the workout RX, which included a heavy deadlifts and handstand push-ups. He was able to push past the tough standards on the handstand push-up that created multiple no-reps and fight for every rep in the short 9min time cap. He finished with 30 reps RX, which is a huge accomplishment! Brian has been training at Unbroken for almost 3years, he always brings good vibes and enthusiasm to class making even the worse workouts fun.

Reema and John Boyd showed up on Saturday with all three kids in matching Batman costumes. Reema joined Unbroken about 8 months ago and John just joined earlier this month. They both Registered for the CrossFit open and were excited to tackle this challenge together. Reema finished the scaled version in 7:52 and John busted out strict handstand push-ups with the scaled weights on the deadlift. Both gave incredible effort in the workout.

“How could you not love a family of superheroes? Especially, when you can get smiles out of the children and you can make the adults feel like their kid self again. It’s only right that these three deserve the spirit points this week!.” Unbroken coach Vince Milner said.

Congratulations Brian, Reema and John! We are blessed to have you as part of our community! Keep leading by example for your kiddos!
