Spirit of the OPEN 20.5: Katie Waller

Thursday, November 14, 2019 - 21:10

Each year at the CrossFit Games, they honor someone with the Spirit of the Games award. This honor goes to the ‘athlete who embodies the spirit of the sport.’ Each week during Saturday Morning Showdown, Unbroken Athletic will recognize a member it feels represented the Spirit of the Games. This week’s honor goes to …. Katie Waller. Although wallballs are not her favorite movement, she showed up for all 120 of them during the Saturday morning showdown. She was able to finish the first part of 20.5 (80Cal row + 120 walballs) in 15:40 and then had a few minutes left to attempt pull-ups. What's more impressive than her score is her positive attitude to face the challenge and continue to push herself until the very end when the timer went off at 20 minutes. Katie has been training at Unbroken for exactly one year now. As a busy wife and mom, she drives all the way from Bay Village to be part of our gym family. She never complains and is always looking for ways to make other people smile. Her encouragement and genuine kindness towards others doesn't go unnoticed and is felt by all of us.

“She wore neon, and she absolutely hates wallballs, was super intimidated by the workout, but came and attacked it anyway.” Unbroken coach AJ Macey said.

"You are amazing! Always so positive and so glad you joined the gym ❤️" said Unbroken member, Kristen Palange
