Don’t be a drifter

Don’t be a drifter

Every single day you are moving in one direction or the other on all planes of your life. The problem with most people is that they have no idea where they are going, so they drift, they live in autopilot hoping they will end up somewhere worth going and when they end up somewhere they don’t want to be they complain about what they would change if they could. They give up control and in an effort to numb their pain of hopelessness; binge watch TV, party all night, criticize other people that know where they are going, gossip, envy other people’s life, fill their schedule up with unimportant busy work, get distracted by everything shiny new thing that crosses their path and/or create problems that don’t exist. Here’s what I know about people that know exactly where they are going, they don’t do any of that because they don’t have time or energy. Ladies, you ever go to Target with no list and no time limit? You end up walking out of there with a whole bunch of junk you don’t need, a wasted day and $300 less than what you walked in there with. Ever go in with a list and a time limit? Way different outcome, right? So my question is do we plan our target trips with more effort than our lives? That might be an exaggeration, but do you know what your summer will look like? Do you have specific goals for showing up to the gym every day? Do you know who you will become by fall? Do you know what areas of your life you are focused on growing in this season? Do you know how you want your body to feel next New Years? Do you know what kind of marriage you will have in 3 years? Do you have clarity and vision on what your life will look like in 5years? How about 10? How can you know what decisions to make today if you don’t know where you are going tomorrow? YOU have to see where you are going first. You will never achieve what you can’t first see. Take the time to figure out what it is you truly want, write it down, take action. Not saying that will fix your life completely and everything will be smooth sailing, but it’s a great starting point. Your life is too important to let this slide. You are too important to not fulfill your mission here. Most people fail, not because they can’t do it, but because they don’t even know what they want in the first place. In a world where you have the power to adjust your sails and steer your ship in any direction you choose… Don’t be a drifter.
